A year or so ago I was using a Lishi Pick to decode padlocks without keys. I have a code cutting machine, would use the info to make a key by code...
Had a Paclock give me trouble and rather than cut more blanks I'd fill in the suspected too low cut with soft solder. Use machine to cut solder to a higher cut.
Brass keys are easy to solder, albeit building up a solder blob can be tricky. I would use a knife, sandpaper, file... to match the sides of the blob to the key. Should be able to solder steel keys too but haven't tried it.
Soft solder seems to want to self impression some, kinda like foil but no where near as quick.
Might give you some ideas for fixing cuts that you suspect are too deep.
