Maybe I'll try to incorporate this little guy from 1981 in one of my #jamuary songs. It is still with the notes taped to the keys as when I bought it. Didn't have the guts of removing them and ending with dual colored keys (i'm assuming the yellowing is not uniform and was caused by UV) #Casio #casiotone #m10 #music #synth #synthesizer #studio #boss #Japan #1980s

Pop quiz time, can you name a song by a famous band that used the Casio M10?. There is more than one...

@f_dion hmm it doesn’t have “drums” so it’s not the song that immediately sprang to my mind. Dammit I’ll have to cheat and use the internet 😛
@dj2mn that's right, no accompaniment on this one! (Nor chords, so The Police are wrong in their recollections, they used a different Casio, probably an MT30)

@f_dion I do not know any song by heart, even worse, though owning some Casio stuff I did not know of this machine until now. But web search led me to the Casio Chaos Theory YT channel and exactly the kind of nerdiness I like best.

@ulfhenrich that was one of the songs i had in mind. I’m not surprised Martin Rushent misremembered the flute line as vl1 when it was actually the m10. I only know for sure what equipment i used on a song if i just made it or if i have production notes. I’ve used way too many synths to remember for sure.

Let’s see what else the fediverse finds.

@f_dion …same here, same here.

@ulfhenrich @f_dion ohhh excited to check this channel out later

(don’t know any specific uses of this one, but i love when casiotones pop up in popular music!)
