@JohnBarronIII
I don't know that I've listened to Rush before, so thanks for reminding me that I need to remedy that in 2025.
@TG_Esq Ever?
@JohnBarronIII
Actually I have heard a bit, but that was when I was trying to work out the washing machine thing from the live performances. But a proper engagement with them is long overdue, especially for someone of my vintage.
@TG_Esq They have a great sense of humor about themselves so you will see some silly stuff especially during live shows but they are deadly musicians! They have different musical eras that turn some fans off because of the stylistic changes but if you enjoy true progression you will find this to at least be interesting. I would recommend 2112 Side one on headphones in a dark room to start, then La Villa Strangiato > Xanadu > Spirit Of Radio > Natural Science > Side One of Moving Pictures >
@JohnBarronIII Great! Thank you for the recommendations, and the suggested order.
@TG_Esq Hopefully you'll be converted and dig deeper. They have great stuff in all eras!
@TG_Esq Subdivisions > Red Sector A > Marathon > Territories > Stick It Out > One Little Victory > Malignant Narcissism > Clockwork Angels (The whole album) Not sure how you consume music but this would just of course be a primer. And pay attention to the lyrics which are just as good as the music.

Hi John, thanks again for this list. I finally listened to the first side of 2112 (although I couldn't manage headphones or a dark room). But I really liked it. Virtuosic playing, high concept, lots of twists and changes in the music, vocals that remind me of Robert Plant in Zep - all the sort of things that made me fall in love with this sort of music a long time ago. I've copied your list, and I think I'm going to enjoy exploring it.
