Look at his beauty I have just discovered in a moisty barn ! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜

Dual Pentium II ! AGP, PCI,PCI-X,โ€ฆ ISA !!! And internal SCSI !

Don't know if it works, but I think I have found the perfect setup for DOS/Win9x games ! (And early Linux distros and Haiku/BeOS for the SMP part!)

IT'S ALIIIVE ! ALIIIIVE !
(Not the two hard drive thought who are death-clicking ar hell but I have many spare ones !)

#PentiumII

A little work on The Beast !

Add a beautiful 3Dfx Voodoo2, changed the ribbon cable SCSI and IDE with the old round one I keep since the 2000's, change the broken floppy unit with a spare on, and add 256MB of PC133 SDRAM that was sleeping in my basement for years ! (512 MB now!)

All seems to work ! Next step, OS installation !

#retrocomputing #pentiumII

ยซ All my drives are deaaad ! ยป ๐ŸŽถ

#retrocomputing #harddisk #turbonegro

First step, quick boot a Linux CD to get the results of "lspci" !
Soo โ€ฆ
- Intel PIIX4 chipset, good ! The best for compatibility !
- Adaptec 2940 SCSI chip, nice !
- Nvidia TNT2, gooood !
- 3Dfx Voodoo2 ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜
- An obscur Soundblaster PCI, Ensoniq-based (a PicoGUS is on it's way though
- A parallel PCI extension card, no use for it
- A Realtek PCI ethernet card, I hope it will have DOS support for future IPX LAN ! ๐Ÿ˜
@jmessager We had the exact same tower, I almost wonder if it's not the one you have now
@mehdi_benadel Ah? It would be awesome !
I found it in a flea market in Morlaix (29) !
Couldn't find anything useful on the hard drive inside, a Windows 2000 installation, a few software installed I don't remember well (maybe flight simulator data?). The HDD crashed on second boot...
@jmessager That would be too much of a coincidence, and one hell of a trip from Lyon ! No reason to look for data though, I think we lost two drives around the time we got that similar tower, and one was completely my fault (was trying to downgrade from a laggy Windows XP, I only had a Win Millenium CD, running the install program broke the HDD). Though I'm not sure if we upgraded to Pentium III during that time and when we switched to AMD Athlon 64

@jmessager very cool find!

If it's not on there yet it might be cool to add the board to https://theretroweb.com/

If it is already on there they might have a bios upgrade for you!
