I'm rereading this piece today, and besides a few typos / mistakes I don't think I will need to work much more on this piece (this is always said before working three days to polish it to perfection, but i think artists will get what I mean. The full product is there, yeepee)
it's fascinating to me how many cultures have their own explanation for it, & so do people. My neighbour writes poetry too and she told me it was her dead relatives telling her the words she had to write suddently in my head, and asked me if I heard the voice too. But I don't hear the voice (I have an internal monologue sadly don't worry), I just feel it. That's why I have to go and write it all over - sometimes I compare inspiration to nausea. I run and I throw it all up suddently. And I'm done
No but, disgusting things aside, I just feel things and then I have some words and pictures that come naturally, or a way of dig into something that inspired me. But I have no voice telling me the words, I translate what I feel.

Some things I HAVE to write, the rest I choose to add depending on rhymes, rhythm, language, form. Then I trim it, I add, and then I remove, remove, correct, polish, and if something I removed inspires me, there we go again
That being said, I have the reading voice in my head only if I struggle or choose too, I don't have it for most reading. It's associated with a higher reading proficiency, a better information processing and being at ease with the language in which the material is written or its jargon as well as a familiarity with the topics addressed/tending to assimilate new topics and concepts via reading more easily.
