getmischI found this post about mastodon on Mastodon(!) Mastodon were cousins to elephants & wooly mammouth, and lived among hoo-mans 13K years ago (relatively recently). NY state is home to 150 mastodon fossil discoveries, w/ 1/3 in Orange County, where these teeth etc were found.
