here are some new pictures that i took today for the MNT Reform Next campaign that show the 3 different case colors. all of these are aluminum: black, purple, and raw (untreated).

we're going to launch the crowdfunding for this open hardware 12.5 inch laptop very soon. if you wanna be informed when we do, you can subscribe with your email at https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/mnt-reform-next (that page still has old pictures with a 3d printed case that will hopefully be updated soon!)

@mntmn any update on the suspend functionality?

Also, maybe a weird question but I use Moonlight on my laptop to stream/game on my server. I am thinking about hardware acc. decode of the stream - anything you have tried?

@b3nis about suspend: i think it'll be possible at some point but haven't spend enough time investigating yet.

moonlight: the rk3588 is good at sw decoding which i always use. there are also a bunch of hw decoders which i also haven't spent enough time with, but can look into.

@mntmn
OK! Anywhere I can follow the progress?
Currently I would need to shut down the laptop every time before putting it in my bag right?
@b3nis correct! well if it works you'll hear about it here

@mntmn A follow up question: do the Reform Next got a sensor for closing the screen? If yes, I guess it would be a stop gap solution to hibernate (if that is supported?) or just shut down when closing the screen.

If you find anything on Moonlight for hardware decode I would be very interested.

Third thing! How is HW acc. in Firefox or Chrome?

@b3nis it doesn't have a lid sensor _yet_ but i'm still thinking of ways to integrate one. for hardware decode, some support just landed for 6.12 but it needs to be verified on the software side https://www.collabora.com/news-and-blog/news-and-events/rockchip-rk3588-upstream-support-progress-future-plans.html
Upstream support for Rockchip's RK3588: Progress and future plans

The Rockchip RK3588 upstream support has progressed a lot over the last few years. Here's where things stand, and what's ahead.

@mntmn Thanks for sharing!

GPU hardware acceleration for Firefox (just browsing), video decode, etc. must be a very nice thing for usability (speed) and battery life, no?
