TPM? No thanks. Nows the perfect time to defenestrate. Use this years #DayAgainstDRM as your opportunity to try GNU/Linux for the first time if you havent -- or see how far its progressed if you have.

@fsf
which GNU/LINUX OS do you suggset?

in order for people to defenestrate,
an easy to install, functioning OS is needed

so, which one?

@ninos @fsf Any modern Linux is almost guaranteed to work right out of the box. Drivers used to be an issue in the past, but the last time I couldn't make a device work was over 10 years ago.

You almost definitely should consider Ubuntu as your starting Linux distro. (I suppose, the FSF won't be entirely happy with this suggestion.)

Ubuntu is great for newcomers because pretty much all of your questions are already answered - there are guides for everything.

@ninos @fsf One problem you might run into is that by default Ubuntu comes with Gnome desktop. As a fan of the old-school taskbar, I find that Gnome hurts my productivity.

Fortunately, there are many flavors like Lubuntu (LXQT), Kubuntu (KDE Plasma) and Xubuntu (XFCE). The underlying OS is the same, but desktop experience can vary greatly. Pick what you like best!
