Just now, for just a moment, I felt a longing or nostalgia for legacy #macOS applications having resource forks, and the experience of poking around in them with #ResEdit.
@smartperson I spent so much time opening random things in ResEdit looking for splash screen and about screen images I could customize.
@smartperson The ResEdit icon is just perfect.
@com Macs and computers in general used to feel more…fun? Whimsical? Did they change, or did I just get old?

@smartperson They totally were more fun! Just look at the whimsical terminology of the computers of yore:

- floppy disk
- mouse
- dongle
- cookie
- daemon
- byte
- pixel
- ping / pong
- hashbang
- worm
- zombie process
- bit rot
- fork bomb

If the mouse were invented today, it would be named something boring like “the desktop distance-relational cursor manipulator (DDRCM).”

@com to add, more #Macintosh oriented fun/silly things:
- wild eep
- sosumi
- Clarus the Dogcow (moof!)
- HyperCard
- FAT binaries (way more fun than "Universal" apps 😴)
- QuickDraw 3D RAVE (🪩)
- flying toasters
Even later, we had things like Flower Power and Blueberry iMacs, and totally impractical crystal clear mice and keyboards. Those counted for something.
@smartperson We had EASTER EGGS! In the OS!
