Science Magazine has named #BioMBIB research as a runner-up for 2024 Breakthrough of the Year! Faculty Scientist Carolyn Larabell and Valentina Loconte performed soft X-ray tomography (SXT) at the Advanced Light Source on cells of the host organism, Braarudosphaera bigelowii, a marine algae. The breakthrough paper describes the first known nitrogen-fixing organelle within a eukaryotic cell. @berkeleylab
