Just shared some thoughts on LinkedIn about rethinking trauma-informed approaches for autistic adults.

Some thoughts on trauma, treatment and autism

I need to run some ideas by autism researchers and professionals here on LinkedIn. I may have a useful view on working with autistic adults.

@johnnyprofane1 Trauma and response! My son had a situation at school where being empathetic with a peer in trauma was at odds with adult demands — who were herding and “helping” the peer. But who stepped in and gave a hug to this escalated peer when he asked for it, with perplexed adults standing around? My son.

He actually was punished at school for ignoring adult demands. But he was praised by his peers parents for helping him. I can’t find my way to reprimanding him for this.
