The following analysis of 1st order #cybernetics especially as applied to the regulation of an economic system S by means of a model M of S and an effector system E (designed to modify the trajectory of states of S, as modeled in M) towards, or away from, predicted future states. It soon becomes very clear how convoluted and hazardous even the most simple cybernetic approach is.

@tg9541 in 1956, Ross Ashby used the same abbreviations S, M and E in an entirely implausible example of regulating the economy.
@joost_rekveld There is a lot of value in applying methodology to the science of management. Ashby looks almost reasonable compared to Stafford Beer and his acolytes at the St Gallen School of Economics and Political Science.
