what's going on in the south is that this is where the #revolution started back in march 2011 in #daraa: kids doing graffiti. murderous govt response. then protests. etc

the syrian govt won here after brutal abuse and the rebels accepted defeat- syrian intelligence svcs have been killing rebels quietly ever since

for years it's been "peaceful" like this

but, with the news in the north, the rebels in the south said "fuck it" and the whole thing reignited instantly today
