Instead of centering the stories of those harmed by UnitedHealth and the very real outrage that most Americans feel about the way the healthcare system is run today, the media is publishing a tidal wave of breathless articles about the loss of "civility" and "respect" online. https://www.usermag.co/p/yes-we-want-insurance-executives
Why "we" want insurance executives dead

No, that does not mean people should murder them. But if you've watched a loved one suffer and die from insurance denial, it's normal to wish the people responsible would suffer the same fate.

Have some people’s jokes gone too far? Yes. Are some people being craven and cruel? Yes. Are some people irresponsibly calling for more violence? Yes.

But to report on the online commentary surrounding Thompson's death without examining the systemic cruelty of our healthcare system is to willfully strip context from these online outpourings. https://www.usermag.co/p/yes-we-want-insurance-executives

@taylorlorenz

the news articles are focusing on the jokes gone too far, the people being craven and cruel, and the people irresponsibly calling for more violence. in part because of amazingly common those thing are. i'm honestly shocked how many of my friends are doing things like that. there's probably a way to write about the connection, someday, when we know more, but right now a guy was murdered and my friends are saying/spreading nasty things about him. pretty gross.

@jbigham @taylorlorenz He was. He killed thousands, at a minimum.
@taylorlorenz Instead of giving someone like this oxygen...
Let's talk about the threat to our children from automatic weapons that seem to be available to every lunatic.
I could care less about the Ogliarchs because thats mutual.

@palin @taylorlorenz but you should care because they're the ones selling automatic weapons to ensure we kill each other.

if "we the people" promote violence against the aristocracy using the guns they sold, they will become fearful and enforce stricter gun controls.

@GreenKnight23 @palin @taylorlorenz oh sweet summer child... Gun violence propagates gun violence, it doesn't end it

@magnesium @palin @taylorlorenz that's like saying violence begets violence so "turn the other cheek" and "be the bigger man".

how's that working out for us?

@GreenKnight23
Personally when the CEOs are scared to go to work and have to spend billions on security...I will feel something has been achieved...FK the bastards.
@magnesium
Pretty sure that is where we are headed unless people would prefer an internment camp.
These people declared war on us ..it wasn't our decision.
@GreenKnight23
I saw a video of Pam Bondi and the felon discussing how they were going to remove all of our guns.
So I bought a really nice one and I would advise them not to even try.

@taylorlorenz You know? It was just the odds of someone being 101% fed up and knowing who to blame.

Eventually the dog was going to bite.

@taylorlorenz the jokes have gone too far? Really?

Nah.

@robotdeathsquad well according to the MSM lol

@taylorlorenz @robotdeathsquad
Not really surprised that the MSM would "robustly challenge" anyone who raises the issue of a disfunctional health insurance system, on how strongly they condemn the CEO assassination

It was the same for anyone debating Middle East foreign policy in the wake of 9/11 attacks

And more recently, the Palestine occupation after the terror attacks in Israel

Best way to shut down rational debate is to put the one raising the uncomfortable questions on the defensive

@taylorlorenz it's already changing behaviours. As well as trying to hide the names of their CEOs (good luck with that!) one isn't already changed a truly horrific, Mengele level cruel, evil policy, back.
This was the policy. Now rescinded.
@taylorlorenz It seems that Americans are expanding the FAFO (Fuck Around Find Out) experience beyond politics.
@taylorlorenz The US does not have a health system. It has an uncoordinated number of health facilitie, many tied to unresponsive insurance companies and the two together are more geared to profit than to patient health. In fact some actively conspire in denying health services to people who either die or are bankrupted.

@taylorlorenz

This thread is so on point!

@taylorlorenz where’s the “civility” in killing people by denying healthcare?

@taylorlorenz

I want the entire US Heath Insurance industry to die in a fire.

Literally or figuratively. At this point, I don't care.

@taylorlorenz Any anger and frustration should be directed toward US Senators who passed, or did not pass, legislation that allowed --or could have prevented--such rampant corporate misconduct and plain fraud for customers/patients. The flaws and shortcomings of commercial medical insurance companies practices is pretty clear and documented: they need regulations!
@yuhasz01 @taylorlorenz It's okay, I have enough anger and frustration to direct to BOTH the legislators and the CEOs. I am a multitasker.
