I’m doing research (particularly in the #PHP and #Laravel communities)…

If you could summarize your personal open source philosophy in a single post, what would it be?

No debating or arguing anyone’s philosophy; do that elsewhere. This isn’t about a right or wrong view.

If it doesn't respect the four software freedoms without exception (to use, study, modify and redistribute), it's not Open Source, it's OpenWashing.

@strypey Are these four freedoms defined at FSF, or somewhere else?
What is Free Software? - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation

Since 1983, developing the free Unix style operating system GNU, so that computer users can have the freedom to share and improve the software they use.

Thanks @richardjh, that's the first link I would have shared. Also;

But @ramsey there's also the Open Source Initiative's Definition (OSI OSD);

https://opensource.org/osd

Those same four freedoms are all there. Just in different words, based on the Debian Free Software Guidelines (DFSG), originally drafted by Bruce Perens;
