Having rehearsed Israel's hard words against #God, asking where the God of #justice had gone (cf. Malachi 2:17), YHWH promised that a messenger would come who would clear the way for YHWH.

The Lord would certainly come, but who could endure the day of His coming? He would be like a refiner's fire and launderer's soap.

God would act as a refiner and purifier of the Levites and they would then make offerings appropriately and would please God as in previous days.
