Mastodon is made up entirely of users who are afraid that some harmless and optional gimmick like #Wrapstodon will suddenly turn everyone, including themselves, into toxic clout chasers.
In addition, I really don’t know which people might be negatively affected by this. Who sees their 2024 post count and thinks “Oh, right, I’ll have to use nasty tactics next year to make my account more visible against the will of others”? How would this even work?
An annual Wrapstodon isn’t the first place people will see their stats. We’re all already part of a network that could give you a dopamine rush when a number goes up—if that’s your thing.
