A ★★★½ review of Runaway Jury (2003)

Of all the films based on John Grisham novels, Runaway Jury is the least plausible. And that’s a high bar considering that two of his other films are about an assassin-employing law firm and a rich man’s plan to murder his way into a favorable Supreme Court ruling. Grisham writes airplane thriller paperbacks that somehow manage to class themselves up through court proceedings and three-piece suits. No shade there; they’re entertaining. Jury goes the extra mile in how it stretches the bounds of suspension of disbelief toward its breaking point. And yet, it’s also one of the best film adaptations
