#StarTrek31DayChallenge

Day One: Without question this is Discovery - The Vulcan Hello.
This was the episode that brought me back to Star Trek, the trailer alone blew my mind. Seeing Michael Burnham and Captain Georgiou working together - their trust and companionship, the desert landscape and desert community, the technique of walking to draw in the sand, the appearance of the ship from the skies.... Even without what comes next this was a spectacular opening episode that set up so much in terms of character and scope of vision. Just completely wonderful! 💫

Day Two: It says it in my bio and that has not changed. My Captain will always be Captain Michael Burnham. 🪐

Day Three: This is more difficult as I honestly think there's loads!
I think Joann Owosekun and Keyla Detma were very underrated on Discovery.
But to give a non-Disco answer, I'm going with B’elanna Torres from Voyager. To me, it's still totally unjustified that she was remotely interested in Tom Paris and I think a lot of screen/plot time was wasted there.

Day 4. Most underrated episode!

If this was a question being asked on the open internet, I'd have to do battle for Discovery's honour with trolls, but since we're all family here...

I choose: DS9 Season 2 Episode 17: Playing God.

This is my pick because this is the episode where Jadzia Dax really comes alive. She suddenly has so much personality and fire. We learn that she's into wrestling as well as gambling and is quite a badass rather than being passive and seemly. She also sings with the Klingon restauranteur, all of which shocks her wannabe initiate.

The rest of the episode has an exciting moral conundrum about whether or not to destroy a tiny universe, in which Sisko is very Sisko - wise and thoughtful.

In addition we get an interesting insight into Quark's background and character motivation in that he sees himself as a failure and that he brought this failure upon himself.

And finally there are MONSTROUS Cardassian Voles!! I was excited to see them, thinking maybe they'd be cute but they were so gross.

The Doctor's Pied Piper Of Hamlin Joke that he plays on Miles was legit hilarious.

An all round brilliant and underrated episode.

Day Six: Fave Mirror Universe Episode

....The Wolf Inside!

This was a really tough choice as all of the Discovery Mirror episodes are just so good - especially the ones in this part of the series.

I picked Wolf because it was the moment of truth about Ash Tyler and it was such an extreme revelation!

There were more revelations to come but this one was so big and had such implications for Ash and for Michael.

Such a dramatic episode that tested Michael to the limit. (And that's without everything that was going on on the Discovery.) It's not an easy or comfortable watch at all - it really showed the horrors of the Terran empire - but it had me on the edge of my seat about what would happen next...

Day 10: Favourite Lower Decks Character

Mariner!!

For me, Beckett Mariner Freeman, is the energy, the heart and the soul of Lower Decks. We've been on such a journey with her - from wild renegade to Star Base 80, to self-destructiveness, to now being a mentor to wild renegades in the last episode. All without losing her energy and strong moral compass.

She is also incredibly funny and I'd like to shake Tawny Newsome's hand for the brilliance of every single line. The SNW crossover episode where Mariner meets Uhura and 'Hot Spock' is pure joy - hilarious, wonderful stuff.

I also love that she's bisexual/pansexual and has girlfriends and can't sit on chairs properly. It's great. Maybe one day Mariner and T'Lyn will go on a date...and Tendi too!

I'm really going to miss Lower Deck's, it's just so good - I love all the crew and hope we'll see them again soon.

Day 14: Greatest Character Arc: #LetsFly!

From human child raised on Vulcan (with all that entailed!) to Star Fleet newbie, to treasured First Officer, to mutineer, to prisoner, to the Lorca-grey zone of Discovery........ To Captain and Admiral via saving the universe so many times: Michael Burnham!

Discovery did incredible character arcs, shout out also to Zora and to Saru.

@LaraTarn DSC has so many characters with amazing arcs. Saru, Tilly, Emperor Georgiou, Zora, and others. Micheal Burnham's is a standout for me. Let's fly. 🖖🏾
