@RupertBBare All of which begs the question: Is Luxon simply a weak-ass, ineffective negotiator? Or does he actually want some/most of this stuff and just needs plausible deniability?

Key hid behind Banks' skirts on some contentious issues, if I recall.

@phil_stevens @RupertBBare

Might I suggest #Luxon like #Seymour is also under the control of #Act Party leader the #AtlasNetwork and heavily influenced by Atlas Network affiliated member the #NZInitiative which means #NZPol is currently under the control of a foreign entity that has an appalling record of embedding themselves in governments around the world and targeting indigenous peoples protections and their resources. This is hugely problematic for #NewZealand independence and democracy.

@jeremy_pm @RupertBBare I think this has been the case for a lot longer than people realise. #DirtyPolitics was just the camel's nose under the tent flap.

@phil_stevens the answer is probably "both".

National have long wanted ACT policy, but understood how unpopular a sudden shift to the far right would be.

Luxon isn't good enough at capital-P-Politics to negotiate a coalition deal & he's too out of touch with the public to understand what they want

@RupertBBare Key at least understood optics and knew where to draw lines.

@phil_stevens @RupertBBare

I find it bizarre that Luxon gets away with blaming Labour for the closure of many large businesses as a result of uneconomic power charges which are a direct consequence of the Key Government privatising 49% of NZ’s power companies against the wishes of the public.

@jeremy_pm @RupertBBare Much more needs to be made of this. Our media are worthless quislings for letting this slide.

@phil_stevens @RupertBBare

When you have people like #AtlasNetwork and #NZInitiative operative Luke Malpass now working as Stuff's #NZPol Political Editor it’s impossible to differentiate between propaganda and objective political journalism in #NZMedia

@jeremy_pm @RupertBBare Malpass is a simpering embarrassment to the profession. The hagiographic treatment he is giving to the worst leader this country has had in decades is nauseating to watch.
@phil_stevens @RupertBBare @jeremy_pm They’ll write whatever they think is needed in order to secure a seat on the company 757’s next overseas jaunt.
