@DoomsdaysCW Trees like to live collectively with mycelium in a forest. This is not in the least "sustainable."
@JeffC1956 Um, can YOU live collectively with mycelium in a forest? Also, trees don't have smartphones / computers (they don't need them). As humans, we can't just all go running into caves (though I'd love to sometimes). Technology got us into the current mess we're in, and unfortunately, we need to utilize technology to help get us out of this mess. And please let me know when you've invented the mycelium network -- that would cut down on fossil fuels!
@DoomsdaysCW Technology made large populations possible, and our population now makes technology a necessity. Sadly, it will also lead to our demise through the destruction of Earth's ecosystems. 🤒
@JeffC1956 I know things look very bleak, but even "Doomsday" over here has a wee bit of hope that we'll get our shit together collectively and solve the problems we've created. If not, I'll be ready with my pitchfork to express my anguish to the powers that be (though they'll probably be hiding out in their friggin' bunkers. Bunkers do have air supplies, though). So yeah, I'm throwing some ideas out there, so if we do turn the tide, we'll know about some resources I think will be crucial to forming societies that can co-exist with nature -- at least to more of a degree than we do now. (And yes, I think there are too many humans, but that's because the elite needed labor to exploit).

Me, I'm a socio-economic pessimist. I do hold out some hope we won't go totally extinct; here's my thoughts on that...

@JeffC1956 Thank you for sharing that.
@JeffC1956 I think of myself as an optimistic pessimist. I prepare for the worst, but hope for the best.
