Anyone have a countertop next-to-sink sort of water purifier they like? Wanna tell me about it?

(feel free to boost - what hashtags should I use? uhhhh... #water #WaterPurifier #WaterNerds #CleanWater)

@hollie I just have the 27-cup Brita dispenser I keep next to the sink. My last apartment had horrible water quality, and I was surprised at how much the passive filter improved it. I have better water now, but still prefer the taste of the filtered water.
@SuperSluether Oh wow, I didn't realize Brita made containers that large! Thanks for the rec! :)

@hollie me hi! I got this one from Waterdrop, just the basic model with the separate spout: https://a.co/d/9whe9rw

Way faster than my fridge filters have ever been or any other sink tap filter. Seriously, it's like I think 1.6 GPM? Pretty good flow! I love it! Much more convenient to use filtered water for cooking or whatever or filling a jug or something! I do have a dispenser in the fridge I fill up from it to have very cold water on-hand for like, my soda stream or just if I want cold water, but I primarily just use it straight.

Just remember not to put hot water through it, does specify that. I haven't replaced the filter yet but as a single home occupant I get a toooon of life out of single filters.

@KayOhtie Thank you, this is great info! :)
@hollie we used a britta. It is kind of bulky. But it works for us. Has a tap to dispense and fills from the top.

@hollie

100% Big Berkey all the way. (Lots of sizes & models; one comes on a base if you would like a kind of ‘night light’ in the kitchen - plus gives height to the unit.)

I have a few sizes; including the largest, because I go through a LOT of water. 💧

*Excellent* (NGOs use them in the field), easy to use, durable (you can ding the stainless steel outside all you want & it still functions; as long as the filters are good, you’re good, gravity-fed - no electricity needed.

@Her_Doing I've heard good things about Berkeys and it's good to get data from someone who currently has one, thank you!

@hollie I've had a 10-cup Waterdrop pitcher since 2021, I think I just went with it based on it being cheaper than big brand and good reviews on Amazon. You'll want to consider water filter pricing, mine is about $10 per a filter (3-4 months).

I'm happy with it primarily as a de-odorizer.

The "change filter" LED seems nice, but I didn't find it to be accurate and it died in a year or two anyway.

With my pitcher, if I "aggressively" pour water, the top may come off, so be aware of that hehe.
