if this is the case this also means that non-masto instances that implement the masto api/oauth well enough should work as well, but stuff like base misskey wouldn't

discord have already copied bsky's domain verification model (either a TXT record in the dns or an endpoint in .well-known), i wouldn't be surprised if they just allow 2 alternative ways of verification on fedi somehow
