In this thread I'll be compiling a list of organizations who plan to fight against the abuses of power and bad policies of the forthcoming Trump presidency. They will work better if they work together and we all know about them and help them.

I'm listing them in no particular order, just the order I find out about them. If you know more of them, please tell me!

Here's a group that is organizing local gatherings to organize resistance. It's called Worth Fighting For and it's a joint project of Indivisible, MoveOn, Public Citizen, Working Families Party, and other partners:

https://weareworthfightingfor.org/

You can find nearby meetings to attend here, for example using the map:

https://www.mobilize.us/electionresponsecenter/

You can also volunteer to host your own meetings:

https://www.mobilize.us/electionresponsecenter/host/

and they have advice on how to run these meetings:

It's very open-ended and I hope these different local groups start talking to each other trying to figure out really effective strategies.

Worth Fighting For

We are worth fighting for. Our freedom, our future, and our democracy demand it. With Donald Trump back in power, our rights and communities are under direct threat—but we won’t back down. Together, we’ll defy his agenda and fight for a nation that protects and uplifts us all.

Worth Fighting For

Accountable.US has launched a project called the "Trump Accountability War Room":

https://accountable.us/accountable-us-launches-trump-accountability-war-room/

"Accountable.US’s Trump Accountability War Room will provide detailed analyses and oversight of nominations, personnel decisions, executive actions, ethical issues, and legislative agenda that would fundamentally reshape the functions of the federal government and erode the safeguards and policies protecting all Americans. Sign up for updates here to stay informed and join the fight for accountability:

https://accountable.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/accountable/subscribe.jsp?subscription=197"

"Accountable.US is a nonpartisan watchdog organization dedicated to exposing corruption and ensuring transparency in government actions that affect the public. During the first Trump administration, Accountable.US and its predecessor organizations played a leading role in making sure the American people had full visibility into President Trump’s extreme nominees. We exposed Labor Nominee Andy Puzder’s history of wage theft and sexual harassment claims at his businesses, uncovered Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s pattern of ethics violations and abuse of public resources, and held Labor Secretary Alex Acosta accountable for his sweetheart plea deal for Jeffrey Epstein."

Accountable.US Launches Trump Accountability War Room - Accountable US

Accountable.US is launching the Trump Accountability War Room to scrutinize President-elect Donald Trump's appointments, executive actions, and legislative agenda. The first Trump administration was littered with officials using their offices for self-enrichment, all while gutting protections for Americans and harming families.

The "Project on Government Oversight" or "POGO":

https://www.pogo.org/post/a-second-trump-term-poses-significant-risk-to-american-democracy

“POGO stands ready to hold Trump and his administration accountable for any corruption or abuses of power, and to work with policymakers across the political spectrum to protect American democracy,” said Danielle Brian, executive director of the Project On Government Oversight. “We called for Trump’s impeachment and conviction by the Senate twice, and subsequently declared him unfit for public office. We continue to be concerned about the policies Trump has proposed and how they could threaten our freedoms and the rule of law.”

POGO executive director Danielle Brian said last week that the group "was created for exactly this moment."

They don't say what they'll actually do, but their financial report says they have $10,000,000.

Some advice from Bernice King - she gave this back in 2017, but it applies now too.

https://www.ebony.com/bernice-king-trump-era/

1. Don’t use his name; EVER (45 will do)
2. Remember this is a regime and he’s not acting alone;
3. Do not argue with those who support him–it doesn’t work;
4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state;
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
7. Support artists and the arts;
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
9. Take care of yourselves; and
10. Resist!

Yes, I'm violating point 1.

"Democratic Govs. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and Jared Polis of Colorado will be the co-chairs of a new "non-partisan" coalition of the nation's governors committed to protecting the "state-level institutions of democracy" ahead of Donald Trump's incoming presidency.

Governors Safeguarding Democracy, or GSD, will be overseen by governors and supported by a network of senior staff designated by each leader while being supported by GovAct, an organization "championing fundamental freedoms."

GovAct is advised by a bipartisan board that includes former Republican and Democratic governors and senior officials like former GOP Gov. Arne Carlson of Minnesota, former Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts and former GOP Gov. Bill Weld of Massachusetts."

"A draft news release listed six other governors as members of the coalition led by Mr. Pritzker and Mr. Polis. But four of them — Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Maura Healey of Massachusetts, Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania — declined to join, according to people briefed on the discussions. Govs. Tony Evers of Wisconsin and Josh Green of Hawaii were also named on the draft news release, but neither has yet agreed to join the group.

Alex Gough, a spokesman for Mr. Pritzker, said that the group had been working with 20 governors’ offices but that “not all of these governors wish to be named publicly at this time for understandable reasons, including the potential threats states are facing.”"

Illinois, Colorado governors announce state-level coalition to resist Trump policies

Governors Safeguarding Democracy will "protect the rule of law," governors said.

ABC News

"Democracy 2025 is a coalition of 280+ organizations representing millions of people, committed to disrupting any efforts by the Trump-Vance administration to attack our rights, our freedoms, and our democracy through strategic legal action in courtrooms and communities across the country. We know the playbook, and we’re ready to fight back. Learn more at democracy2025.org."

The following is a quote from https://archive.is/ZzAXN :

"Democracy Forward, a liberal-leaning legal organization that frequently battled the first Trump administration in court, on Thursday unveiled a large-scale new effort aimed at thwarting President-elect Donald J. Trump’s second-term agenda from his first day in office.

More than 800 lawyers at 280 organizations have begun developing cases and workshopping specific challenges to what the group has identified as 600 “priority legal threats” — potential regulations, laws and other administrative actions that could require a legal response, its leaders said. The project, called Democracy 2025, aims to be a hub of opposition to the new Trump administration.

Unlike in 2017, when Democratic lawyers were unprepared for the onslaught of conservative policies, the intent is to be ready to unleash a flurry of lawsuits immediately.

“We’re leveling up and lawyering up,” Skye Perryman, the chief executive of the organization, said. “This wasn’t something that just everybody woke up the day after the election and started to plan.”

Democracy Forward

We fight vigorously in court against abuses of power and attempts to undermine a government that works for people who need it most.

@johncarlosbaez This all seems straight forward, but I'm curious about the reasoning behind the Voldermort rule.
@NotABitOfIt - the guy loves his own name and wants everyone to be saying it all the time. And we are.
