Why Does No One Understand the Real Reason Trump Won?

It wasn’t the economy. It wasn’t inflation, or anything else. It was how people perceive those things, which points to one overpowering answer.

The New Republic

That's all very well, and is part of the story. It raises more questions.

Why has the right wing media risen to such dominance? Why do people believe the nonsense?

Why did Hitler rise to power?

Why Putin? Why Xi Jinping? Why Kim Jong Un?

@Sou @petergleick exactly… I agree Americans are consuming right wing media like never before, but where has the capability to throw up all this vomit gone? It’s almost analogous to an immune system having gone haywire. The only choice now is to watch it all collapse in an ugly writhing death and hope it can be rebuilt.
@petergleick it's a malware attack on democracy. Been going on for years. Karl Rove and 'reality is what we say it is' and all that.
@petergleick
I respectfully disagree. The Harris camp had an uphill battle since the beginning. The enormous white dude advantage of trump plus the billion dollars' worth of promotion by Elon especially was undaunting. Walz was the best pick for this reason. Don't forget the I'm the white guy like you versus Ka mal a messaging.
@petergleick We really need a science based approach to find out why voters voted the way they did, and how to fix it.
@petergleick I fully agree with the article.
Take the car to the countryside and switch on the radio. The waves are saturated with right-wing talks.
This is a strategy, which fully works.
@petergleick "Today, the right-wing media sets the news agenda in this country." This is utter BS. Nearly every single news source in the country is tripping over each other to race as far left as they can. People are tired of the BS.
