@QasimRashid

Not enough pseudo science, conspiracy theory or drug use for the low attention span population sadly.

I'll happily join the pod and do all those things and talk major shit while you do the high road stuff! 😅

@QasimRashid we don't have a liberal Joe Rogan because we don't have someone liberal who is willing to shamelessly lie to promote the cause (nor should we).

It's the Hack Gap.

@QasimRashid but are you an "experience"?
@QasimRashid (adding https:// in front of the link will allow Mastodon to recognize it and turn it into a clickable link)
@QasimRashid it's a different market. He's producing an entertainment and parasocial product and you're producing an informational or educational product. There's crossover of topics but not of purpose.

@depereo @QasimRashid

To this exact point, everyone who says they need an equivalent means so in effect, not composition and basically isn't hep to the analogs that do exist actually existing and trying to be the thing they say doesn't exist.

It's all so troubling to see people consider themselves adept armchair operators and advisors constantly reveal how they're an audience in search of better hosts in a political fandom that doesn't produce or accept its own hosts, ever.

@ciggysmokebringer @QasimRashid oh, that makes a lot of sense, thanks.
So we need an inviting ecosystem of media that can build and share audiences, and that starts with boosting the people doing those shows now?

@depereo @QasimRashid

To a large degree I think that's part of it - don't go looking for mercs to play ball before looking for strivers in your midst just as a principle of building something together, sharing something together.

Another facet to this, if you're looking at it from the POV of seeking a specific audience cohort, is you might have to play along with things outside of what would amount to fanservice for an audience already in hand. It's hard to articulate this point, but you cant get a broader audience analog just singing the praises of Liberalism and Democrats and assuring the audience they're good people for being there, ya know?

I really do believe the askers dont realize thats what they want, fanservice for themselves rather than a conduit to lumpen via infotainment.

@QasimRashid

I'd love to, but you are on substack, and they'll never see any subscription from me.

@QasimRashid I think when people say "we need a liberal Joe Rogan", what they mean is "we need someone already famous and influential who shares all of my exact opinions"
@XauriEL @QasimRashid I watched an episode of Joe Rogan once and he had on some guest who said something that I disagreed with. I'm still in therapy from the emotional trauma. I honestly don't understand how disagreeing with me could even be legal. Needless to say, I do not watch Joe Rogan.
@QasimRashid unless you are prepared to take hundreds of millions of dollars from billionaires and yet pretend you are totally independent media, against status quo/elites and spread their propaganda, no one is ever going to emulate or be successful as mr steroid and his gang of right wing commentators and influencers.
@QasimRashid
There are plenty such podcasts as yours. Liberals, however, do not need the infantile reassurance of an echo chamber.
@QasimRashid
We need a TV channel, not like FreeSpeech TV. Like Fox.
@QasimRashid There is also ‘#TheDeprogram’, a properly, capital-L Leftist version of Joe Rogan’s podcast which features YouTubers JT (Second Thought), Hakim, and Yugopnik.

@QasimRashid

Get your closest 3 friends together... Preferably hilarious and well known comedians... Take mushrooms... And record the results.

Until you do something like that, let's not pretend you are the left wing version of Joe Rogan.

Y'all are missing the point.

@QasimRashid

Far more intellectual conversations than the ex- wrestler, Joe Rogan who is a has -been who never was. The Ivermectin brainiac. LOL

@QasimRashid Somehow I doubt that you're noisy enough, or for that matter spew forth enough conspiracy theories.
@QasimRashid can you make your show available on AntennaPod?
@QasimRashid when people say that, they're talking about how Rogan has a huge audience of not-politically-engaged men. You're not gonna build an audience like that, with a message like yours on a platform like this. You're like the drunk looking for his keys under the street lamp because that's where the light is. Sorry.
@QasimRashid You are way too smart to take the Joe Rogan role though. And those are a lot of fancy words jn your post already...
