@Daseinsappeal They are indeed very alien. When I was a kid, I used to play a game called Ultma Underworld 2 and these brain creatures were always pretty upsetting to me.
(I don't know if you have read Watchmen, but there is a follow up to that comic panel for tomorrows date :P)
