Haven’t bought physical media in awhile…
I bought this as I have a really fun personal project idea and needed a physical copy of an original NES cartridge. The used book store also had what looks like a brand new copy of Kirby for the famicom. I would have bought it if it was much cheaper. 😍

Some progress. Designing and creating physical objects can be such an enjoyable process.

Good prototype. Now I have more things to optimize. Those silver rivets on the back are actually neodymium magnets so this can stick on a metal wall as decoration. Happy with how the pixel artwork came out considering I’ve only attempted this a few times in the past. #design

I've kind of gotten hooked on creating pixel art lately. 😁

I know likes and engagement on social media isn’t important, but as an artist/designer you want your work to be appreciated and seen. Feedback has always been great over here, but I find it interesting that my artwork posted on a huge network like instagram doesn’t get more views. Algorithm only rewards videos these days? My pixel art just isn’t that good in the first place? I know it’s not a big deal, but I can’t help but be annoyed that it’s not getting seen on a site built for liking images.
@mark it’s stories or bust on IG these days, sadly. I usually post a story about a main feed post if I want to call extra attention. I often forget to even scroll my main feed these days and I much prefer seeing my friend’s photos
@mark nothing I post on Instagram gets more than a handful of likes and I’ve been there since the beginning. Not your fault, that work is awesome.
@gedeonm @mark I saw a comment this week that I agree with: Instagram is no longer social media. It is a new form of television. Scrolling Instagram is the new channel surfing where the shows are just very short.

@mark The site is no longer built for liking images. It’s built to show likely target audiences to advertisers.

The users aren’t the customer, or the goal, or the measure of success.

Happy advertisers spending money is the goal.

@mark The “boost post” button is the hint: you won’t get seen unless you pay, because the site is about making money via advertising, not about showing people what they want to see or sharing things with your friends like back in the pre-Facebook days.

Your artwork is great! 😀

(also nice to see a fellow Dr Mario fan)

@mark I like it! Bail on insta, post all images only to the don!
@mark I love it. Keep posting them here! 👍
@mark this made me really want to replay “Full Throttle” so badly
@mark I’ve heard secondhand that the IG algorithm boosts videos. Artists tend to upload timelapses of their creations instead of the artwork on its own for this reason.
@mark There's a pretty thriving pixel art scene on Mastodon, it's one of the things that attracted me here in the first place. I used to love Instagram when it was just photos but it's so depressing now.
@mark Pay to play. That’s IG. POS.
@mark 1. Yes, the platform absolutely prioritizes video.
2. If people don’t know you and are particularly interested in what you’re doing I guess it just looks like another filter — maybe because it’s too good and looks like a photo?
@mark i think your art is lovely, and i think it doesn’t get traction on instagram because it’s not what people are looking for over there and the big commercial social sites are all about feeding expectations.

@mark if you take requests I‘d love to see one of those 😁

@mark Mark, I reached out to support, haven’t heard anything yet. I have an older ipad mini & the software update doesn’t go past 15.8.3. I can’t update Ivory! Haven’t been able to for a while. I have a subscription that doesn’t work. Does that mean I won’t be able to use Ivory anymore? 😢
@DianneLittle yea unfortunately we only support 2 generations of an operating system especially when we need to use API’s that are unsupported in older versions. We check the % of our customers on each OS and 15 was an extremely low percentage.
