I'm not happy with this, but it was an overrated application, as well as being very expensive, for what it offered, with exceptional marketing behind it, important contacts in the #VFX industry that allowed it to take advantage of an undeserved advantage, in some videos they mocked other applications, but in the end, they decided to stop development, a shame for those who believed in this project. #modo #Foundry #2D #mesh #SubD #b3d #Blender #Blender3D
@pafurijaz they chose not to open source?
@muhuk I don't think it will be Open Source, also because they have extended the license for users until 2034. It will be hard to clean up the code, and who knows if they will ever want to do it.
@pafurijaz oh, so they had an annual licensing sort of thing. Well, no offence to users, but I'm glad they're sunsetting.
@pafurijaz it's okay to say you're entitled to X years of free updates. But it's never okay to say your software will stop working after X years.
@muhuk The strong point of Modo was and is the Quad topology, so I think a lot of it is due to the introduction of Exoside's Quad Remesher algorithm, in many applications, and this made the application useless, in fact too expensive and with little to offer in addition to polygonal modeling.
