fwiw the plan i've heard them talk about works the other way: default on the debt and/or hyperinflate the dollar -> implode the economy -> the world will have no choice but to switch to bitcoin

Visa processes 24,000 transactions per second.
How far would they get into their Bitcoin transition before someone said, "Wait, I ordered a pizza and they told me the payment is expected to clear in March, 2315!"

The 245 Million number is imaginary.
The highest turnout the U.S. ever had was in 2020 (158M). That same year was when the turnout % was greatest in 60 years.
The % turnout has always hovered between 50 and 60 percent.
So you could say that *every* election is decided by a minority.
Just because 87,192,673 of your fellow American eligible voters don't vote doesn't mean they are imaginary.
Disgusted, dismayed, disfranchised, perhaps, but not imaginary.
The fact that every election is decided by a minority demonstrates that your voting system has not, and can not secure "government by the people, for the people."
Which is, of course, the way #DefendersOfTheStatusQuo like it.

And for a surprising number of them, it's actually part of their ideology or the logical conclusion of their ideology, Capitalism. Which trumps little irritating things like human rights, democracy, the rule of law, you know all the stuff that I learned makes a Western industrialized country.
