I'm already totally tired of reading takes like this...

... is there a segment of the population that didn't want to vote for a woman or a person of color? Yeah, sure, maybe.

But that segment pales in comparison to the slice of our populace who couldn't bring themselves to vote for EITHER genocidal authoritarian aristocrat because they "saw no difference" between the candidates.

Do I see a difference between them? Of course.

But I also saw this coming. Democrats who try to be Republicans will be beaten by Republicans every time. The DNC is like Charlie Brown with the football, I swear.

@deviantollam Yep. I was heartened somewhat when she picked Walz as her running mate, since he is somewhat more Progressive than most of the DNC.

But then she kept doing the "pivot to the Right" chasing voters that did not, and I was arguing would not, actually vote for her.

@deviantollam This, but it should be clear that supporting Ukraine against invasion is good and necessary

@jackeric Yes I agree. Defensive actions taken against an aggressor or imperialist or colonizer are justified.

The US supporting Ukraine is the broken clock being right once or twice a century when it comes to our militarism overseas

@deviantollam
Meanwhile Bibi fired his defence minister while the world was preoccupied, and is actively bulldozing buildings in Gaza and the West Bank now. As if he had been waiting for it... Also this from Jerusalem earlier, with the Guardian stating:
"The boost given to the annexationist wing of the Israeli far-right may be the most immediate and momentous ramification of a Trump win for the Middle East, because of its potential to redraw the map."

@deviantollam I really don't think that 4 step plan is true. (and all I kept hearing this election has Harris/Walz playing up the fact that they were gun owners)

It's just as easy to get stuck in a leftist bubble as it is to get stuck in a liberal bubble. Those things would energize a leftist base, but "Win every election so hard?" Seriously doubt it.

There was some racism/sexism, some protest voting, but the largest thing I keep hearing is that people are deluded into thinking inflation was Biden's fault and downplaying any societal risk with "You live in a state that will protect abortion and trans rights. You'll be fine what are you worried about?"

@varx it's a whole mess, I agree
@deviantollam To paraphrase an Egyptian-born friend: Either candidate will continue the genocide, so we might as well expedite the collapse of the empire...
