That is disappointing. Setting up and connecting the HF antenna system for the first time in months and finding that all bands measure an SWR of four or higher. Workable with a tuner, but far from ideal. Time to break out measuring equipment to figure out where the issue is. #hamradio #amateurradio

Well that confirms that #hamradio experiment, @on5zo. Time to switch out the PL59 connectors and see if that helps. If not, it will mean replacing the cable, since shortening it is not an option for this purpose.

@leune @on5zo I hope you sealed the connectors very well. I once helped with an antenna install and the old coax drained water for quite a while after we took it down! ;)

@va3db @on5zo That’s a work in progress :-) For now a good glob of Vaseline does the trick. We are not expecting any meaningful rain in the near future, so hopefully I’ll get away with it temporarily. Living on the edge right now :-)

@leune @on5zo coaxseal does a good job. Water just *loves* to wick into connectors.
