"An Instruction in Shadow", fantasy #BenedictJacka: interesting non-OP lower-class protagonist, world has potential. BUT:
Everyone would benefit from a modicum of common sense. Familial and social relationships are just too shallow. Too many too elaborate "fight" scenes that shouldn't have happened (see "common sense") take up pages, while the actual story progress is making glaciers look speedy. Annoying cliffhanger.
