Via Ammar Moussa:

Gas prices coming down. The economy is growing.

Kamala #Harris is promising to cut taxes and has a plan to lower costs for families.

Donald #Trump is promising “hardship” and a national sales tax.

That’s the choice.

Breaking News: The U.S. economy grew at a 2.8% annual rate last quarter, as consumer spending remained robust.

@GottaLaff Unemployment and inflation numbers under #Biden are far better than under #Reagan, but Ronnie is somehow a secular economic saint to the Right. Makes no sense, does it?
@GottaLaff Share this to the damn world. It needs to be on TV and billboards. It won't influence the cult, but it might educate some traditional conservatives who are absolutely under a rock.
@GottaLaff
Gas is down to $2.87/gallon in my neighborhood.
@JayElbey @GottaLaff It's in the $2.60s here.
@Nonya_Bidniss @JayElbey @GottaLaff Oddly, within about 25 miles it's either at 2.69 or 2.85 around me. (Missouri) I assume some of that variance has to do with tanker travel distance but it varies dramatically inside the larger nearby city too. Either way it's nice to see since I can't afford an EV at the moment.
@lothus I can drive to the other side of town and will find gas stations charging $0.20 more. @JayElbey @GottaLaff

@JayElbey

$1.09CAD/L. Damn.

It makes me both happy and sad to see that. Cheap gasoline makes it so much easier to justify keeping and purchasing CO2-emitting vehicles.

It's feeding the addiction, but the addiction exists and high prices only make the suffering worse.

@GottaLaff

@rbos @JayElbey @GottaLaff I'm not positive expensive gasoline cuts down on driving or the appeal of gas-guzzling vehicles. It's $4.80/gallon here ($1.28 USD/l) and almost everybody's still driving one person per vehicle and choosing to buy SUVs instead of anything smaller.

@Dervishpi Yeah, it's certainly not going to have short-term effects. Price elasticity of demand for gas means that you have to have years of high prices before the demand changes.

And it's also true that there are other factors, like the existing car-oriented infrastructure making it very difficult to change. That's a generational change that (I hope) is only just starting to really get rolling here.

@rbos I'm watching Tesla charging stations going in all over the place. Not my favorite company, but I can hope it will inspire competitors.
Good point about the startup delay for changes, though!

@JayElbey @GottaLaff

I paid $2.41 at Sam's Club in OKC.

@GottaLaff Palestinians have no choice. It's one murderer accomplice of another.
