'Shadow Of The Vampire' pays hommage to 1922's silent horror classic 'Nosferatu' as a fictional account of its filming. What if the actor who portrayed the vampire was one in real life? That's a dumb premise, but then the movie mostly works. (1/2)

Hammy character actor Willem Dafoe appears alongside hammy character actor John Malkovich, in a movie produced by hammy character actor Nicholas Cage. I found the dynamics between the monster_actor and director quite entertaining. Dafoes facial-heavy acting style differs a lot from actual Nosferatu-actor Max Schreck, who relied more on body language.
Its a kinda smart, kinda trashy, mostly well acted independent monster movie.
