Time traveling ghosts from the future? Most likely would be Ashlei as an AI she could influence electronic devices with ease. Like changing the text on my phone to a language I don't speak like Turkish or Mandarin.

Interesting to know would be if it is a ghost that traveled through time which could than appear everywhere as long it's not depending on some inter dimensional reality boarder thinning event. Or a time traveler pretending to be a ghost, which would make it more likely that they approach me as I am alone.

There are a lot of Scarry creatures in the StarRyde-Verse. Like 6 meter high insects, dinosaur like aliens or a species of sentient plants, one is even part of the Union.

The Eltaryn clearly stand out this hulking gorilla like or insectoid like aliens that never speak but fight and fight and fight. No communication only brutal warfare. And than there is this eerie thing that they dustify after they are defeated and there tech also falls apart. Where you just had a battlefield with fallen comrades and enemies are now only you and your fallen left in gray send.
First people thought they where using a Nanovirus or something like it but it turns out that all what remains seems to be ash...
As if they burned on the anvils of war.
Still all this ash is now part of your world...
Only once in the history it was successful to capture

The memory loss can happen to all of us. Whiped clean like a fresh plate out of the sink, or like in AJ's case, crumbled remains still on it, out of the context, only there to remind you what you lost...

There are a lot of stories of a lot of creatures especially AJ draws, not knowingly, heavily from the in universe myth of the Greyman for their self presentation.
Grey little humanoid Aliens exist in the story of every sentient species an well in the middle of the Union with the grey skinned Bethos(ians) it's unclear if their species has anything to to with said stories.
The Intergalactic SCP foundation and the Templin Institute for interspecies Anthropology (thats the Terran names translated into our time) are fighting over this topic for a long period now.

The modern variant mixed in all kind of sources and is an amalgamation of different myths, stories etc similar to our modern understanding of the Earth mother movements in history. It's currently visuals are a result of Bethosian traits

The greyman are often described as being seductive, which is a result of the Bethosians being thrown in because their abilities to have sexual intercourse with other species with relative ease fuels a lot of fantasies throughout galactic society, manipulative, benevolent, mischievous, dangerous or even helpful. Thanks to the galaxy wide version of the Internet or the Neural interface network this stories spread and mutate incredibly fast.

Since AJ draws so heavily on this myth of the greyman it's easy to understand why people start talking about the Greyman that saved them or sacrificed their colonie.

I add unknown to its traits, because a lot of creatures in the universe could fall under the umbrella Demonic Presence from our today's point of view.

Kira: cautiously aim her gun at it while trying to not look to dangerous. Try to get more information. Try to evaluate the danger & establish communication. First contacts are easy to mess up & need a special handling, she is trained for such situations but luckily never had to follow through, so she would be on alert & also try to make a good impression. But safety first. If communication can be established attempt to gather information & make clear that she has no interest in harming the entity as long they are peaceful.

Arkham: jump away from the creature before remembering her training for first contact situations.

Ash: Scanning the hedge out of this creature to support first contact protocol.

It is hard to pin point that, Kira tries to be a general good hearted and kind person. A decent behavior is expected from everyone on a society level, Terrans tend to be more kind in general because they actively try to learn from the past and be better.
So it's not uncommon to share food or shelter someone in need. Kira is protective about her crew as much as it's healthy/possible. Usually she doesn't discuss things in anger but with the goal of helping someone to advance. Her favorite goal for this war would be to end it via communication, by reaching a shared understanding.

I guess under the circumstances, that this is a war against an enemy who shoots on sight and doesn't communicate other than by attacking ships, destroying colonies, killing civilians, this is a form of kindness or maybe naivety.

Filtering out the human enzymes of the nano droplets of Terean saliva that intoxicate Talithi.

It turned out he was a security officer of the Union and got attacked by some Seraph members.

Seraph is like Cerberus in Mass Effect or Terra Prime in Star Trek, they hide under a heavily bend and miss interpreted Religious umbrella.
Their symbol is a stylized depiction of 6 red angel wings centered around a blue ball representing Terra, some believe they are fueled by some entities in the Rim.

As I said it's not uncommon to average Terrans, that do not share Seraphs views to act similar to Kira in such cases.

As an AI you are bound to your physical form and the network that allows you to expand as much as you like. Being merged with a Terran gives you perspective on another physical body, how this body reacts, she secretly mixed some essence's into the Air that make most of the crew relax a bit more and found it delightful as it worked. For Ashlei Kira is the biggest lucky hit, she is open minded don't fights the merge and even is interested in things Ashlei was programmed to find interesting or important. Watching her "other half" making progress in forming Holo Avatar's from her memory or taking over control from her delights her. All concepts she didn't really understood before. Every 'roach Eltaryn would easily thanks to their mandibles.
Something only the elvish looking Asza'ni could achieve similar because their lower jaw unlike Terrans or Talithi (who can dislocate their lower jaw) can split in the middle. Most times they keep it closed and often wear makeup up to match Terran, Talith or Somwhar standards. They always seems freaked out if Asza'ni open their mouth completely. Maybe it's more because of the tentacle like tongue or that their lower jaws hide a set of mandibles that look a lot like the arms of a praying mantis upside down. It just doesn't seem to work with their elegant upper face structure that closely resembles Terran or Talith.
Somwhar also have an advantage withe their feline head and their fangs.
Of all characters Kira could have an slight advantage thanks to her extrem good proprioception.

There are sulfur based life forms, hell worlds which are like Venus or the suns surface, some of them have intelligent life, some of them are intelligent. There are so called mentals, beings that can force their mind and thoughts into others, it's more a category than a species. Or parasitic beings that alter one's behavior by infecting them (imagine a Toxoplasma Gondii with a hive mind as an example). So I don't need to stretch my mind to far.

This infections can be healed but it needs the right treatment and conditions. In case of a single mind connecting to one it's often more like an knowledge thing how one can survive. Accessing ones mind does not grand control of it just an influence

2/3 knowing about the influence one can have and how to deal with it, telepathy isn't very common and non telepathic species are resistant to a degree by their nature. So if a "demon" would "possess" a single mind individual like any Terran, it would be a battle of thoughts while the demon must learn how to control it's new host. The body doesn't take this kindly and the subconsciousness can be a tricky labyrinth to fall in for an unprepared breachling. What the demon might feel as their tongue might be the muscles that controls the bladder. The perception of the individual my differ vastly from the perception of the pocessor so that a single stroke of a brush may trigger a pain response in the invaders thoughts. Because no way is only one way every exit can be an entry and every connect has the risk to backfire.

So to be the "survivor", analyze who your dealing with, find their weakness & use it, make your mind their hell.

3/3 Of course their are single individuals that would welcome such connections and mind meld (taken in universe from the Star Trek Vulcans way of sharing their experiences, thoughts, emotions etc) is a common trope in many in universe stories, the reality even with mentals and Hellword parasites it's very rare but has happened before and most cases it where the body's inhabitants who won this fight. That said their are a lot of undiscovered worlds and maybe their are even mental species capable of "possessing" others to full extend.

So far "the only case we can see" is Kira and Ashlei. In which Kira and Ash both access the others memories/data and start to understand their physical forms. But so far Kira's mind does a better job in "processing" the Ghoz'Tarc and using its systems while Ash can suppress some memories via stimulant control or make memories for Kira more vivid.

Way more often we see pheromones used for "telepathy."

Not really Terra has a month of costumed festivities, it's a rolling month that focuses on the history of wearing costumes. In which the heritage rituals are honored and the evolution of costumes is shown. The info streams show the often cultural or religious origins. Parties will be hold on Terra and a lot of colonies which Terran settlers, the Union itself doesn't have anything like this but a lot of member worlds have similar celebrations that are ment to remember the species origins.

Throughout the Rim worlds which have a more cyberpunk society focused on "Humans" its one of the many ways to sell cheap crap to the masses the whole year through just change the label if it isn't "Halloween."

Somwhar Ovateh Reinbow. He is an prominent Somwhar musician that lives on Terra. The Somwhar have a very spiritual behavior towards their homeworld Khalit and it's inhabitants. Ovateh lives on Terra because he fell in love with its stories but especially with its cats.
For him they are a lost tribe of the Somwhar and he studied them for years now. He has a very stupid humor but is also very rooted in the believes of the Somwhar that Khalit is a living being and he believes Terra and it's Gaya Mythos to be as true as the Stories about Khalit being sentient being. He just would love to have more Terrans see that fact.

I as the Author-ity Person don't like playing pranks. For several reasons thus I don't imagine a futuristic version of humanity often pranking someone.

Tricks like magical tricks, a bluff in a confrontation, be it a game or a combat scenario are a different thing.

Usually the people avoid interacting with each other if they don't like each other and if they are forced to interact they usually make a clear cut early on like:"hear me out, at the moment I am uncomfortable in our interactions & not really interested in more than the necessary interactions, it might change in the future, but for now, I would appreciate a work focused relationship in which we are doing our best, so we all can successfully reach a satisfying solution."

Yes but I try to not actively use it.
I know that writing a story is different from writing a PNP Adventure but the best results my players told me, where when I just used less words and let their imagination run free with just some little mentions like "the Air went dry and rough on the skin like old paper,"
"the ground is bent visibly, spherical you could say."

I often create such details on the fly and incorporate them. My players often said that this details make them uneasy, like something powerful lingering somewhere but they can't pinpoint at it.

I try to use similar things in Star Ryde when possible. My goal is to create intense moments in which the readers don't know what to expect, because everytime I tried to write a "real Horror" story I failed spectacular 😅

Sorry my German boosted/inherited nitpicky ness wants to chime in that a corpse (or at least the German Leiche) has per definition clear signs of death, i.o. I guess that this means a longer period without life and so an impossibility of reviving a person on our world medical terms... So no, no necromancers (post mortem healers) in Star Ryde.

However near death experience are there & people have been brought back from the brink of death by many and I'm sure under my ~ 40 crew members at least Dr. Kaiden and Dr. Waberi (as 2 of the at least 3 doctors) revived someone. Not sure how far Kira was gone already but they where desperate enough to try a new barely tested method. Which will have some repercussion after the mission.

the Drakk Ula'H are a cast of a nocturnal Species that has a parasitic relationship to the other Native sentient species on their Home planet F'n TeZih, the H'Mo G'Blin. Unlike the Drakk U'Hnda who are an aquatic species or the Drakk Ku'win, who are peaceful shapeshifter, the Drakk Ula'H hunt the H'Mo G'Blin, little metal based humanoids that gather in large groups, and try to lick their iron rich sweat from their body's. The only working protection, against that, is believe in the god GR'Lik. To win against them one needs to expose their week point, their tongue to the holy water of GR'Lik. The water needs to be applied directly after they liked of the Iron from an H'Mo G'Blin. It then produces a sulfur smell, a substance that melts Drakk Ula'H taste buds, thus making the attacker flee immediately.

Ash would have the easiest time defeating him by A) firing any weapon at him under help from Talisa, a Longini Lance system hit would most likely vaporize him directly, it's the simplest way just fire an high mass, high velocity, 1 meter long projectile from orbit vertically down to his location if it hits it would pierce him head to toe...
Or "teleport" him on board into the Slip/Slyde chamber which would be prepared with silver particles & garlic essence mixed into the breathing air.

Kira most likely would use a Eltaryn Buster slug. More precisely it's a small grenade add on for the Alliance sidearm/riffle from Onga Technologies, it explodes in an extremely sticky slime that hardens in a minute like cement. Eltaryn will stop moving but human sized creatures will most like simply knocked of feet & find themselves "glued" to the ground, if they survive the impact.

Everyone if the circumstances seem reasonable. A house is still a shelter. If the options on a planetary away/ground missions is to stay outside or in a creepy looking house, the house is still a house. Their scanners would give them information about their surroundings and if the structure is stable, if any dangers lurk inside as long as they have any form of energy signature, like electro magnetic fields, resonance scams would most likely reveal enough about the structure, to be sure that it doesn't breaks away under their feet (or to find week isolations, wind blowing through walls, hidden passages) of course in a horror scenario an interfering elektro magnetic field of a weird ash storm would render them less useful.

TL:DR right at the moment not much besides the prompts.

Because I am in an phase of working through emotions of loss, fear of the future, questioning my way, for a longer period than I like, still figuring myself out, not who I am, I have a grip on that, but how to get myself motivated to stick to something and do it. I never tried writing on a bigger scale than some short stories, backround Infos for characters or world and story building. I want to see who I am as a professional procrastinator... Nah not really... know that. Who I am as a writing person. And if I can tell stories that others might enjoy it or inspire them in any way. What can possibly go wrong? In the worst case I wrote a book. As long it isn't the Necronomicon X that Austrian asshole that also wrote a book...

477. What kind of diet does your MC have? Do they have to be reminded to eat, or are they likely to remind others?

Kira just drinks "the brew." She doesn't has a regular schedule how she eats and especially on missions she as the captain is bad at eating. She sips the unrefined enzyme printer liquid (equil). She had to promise the doctor to eat solid food daily so her stomach doesn't loose the ability to process solid food.
The thing is that she always hacks the enzyme printers to give out the equil unrefined.

Arkham finds it so disgusting that she even starts taking breakfast together with her.

While Anika made sure that cooking together is a thing for the crew.

Kira loves cooking for others, as she shows on that evenings, at home she even loves cooking for herself but more as an occasional toast on missions she deems unnecessary.

The Equil just contains everything a body needs.

478. If you had all the skill to carve out a jack-o'-lantern of one of your characters, who would it be? Would you like to describe it?

The Ghoz'Tarc itself by extension ASHLEI because I would than know how that ship actually looks like. It's something I really struggle with in my mind it's ship mix of the Normandy SR-2 from Mass Effect and the Defiant or the Enterprise E from Star Trek. But I also want it to be like the Knight Rider meets a Falcon (not the Millennium Falcon) something that starts to look like Biological in an very early stage...
Not like the organic ships we can see in other franchises like Babylon 5 or Stargate Atlantis. Maybe a bit like an Evangelion or Angel from Neon Genesis Evangelion...

Which is really mind boggling for me ... All the ideas for references but no clear pictures which is kinda sad because every SciFi story that has spaceships in it tells a lot about it's world with this ships.

479 Which one of your characters would win a pumpkin carving contest, and how?

This goes to Ashlei even if it is basically cheating because she could easily print out a carved pumpkin but in case of an self aware artificial intelligence with a ship as a body we clearly would need another framework for the carving...

How about carving out an astroid into a giant space lantern? But how do we light up something like this?

480. On average, how many times per week do you write?

I try to at least write once a week, However that is sadly not how it is at the time. The recent amount of a certain Discworld character that usually talks in UPPER LETTERS in my surrounding has thrown me off the rails a bit. And I'm not great in consistency at all which makes the prompts literally the most consistent thing in a long time, however since I am almost always answering from the point and not from my "archived" stuff I could be generous to myself and say an hour a day. This will change, with the German Phantastik Prompts going in hibernation and may be replaced with another prompt, but maybe I am finally at a point that I can start writing the story in a more consistent form, as it was my goal to begin with with the write month challenge, however the LLM company behind it made me insecure about that ... So ... 🤷🏿

481 Describe a pivotal moment from your antagonist’s / villain’s life that they will never forget.

Antagonists:

AJ is not the villain. They is the Antagonist for different reasons.

AI not so sure.

For AJ it is a sad memory from all that they can remember, it is the death of the love of their live. Kiara Johnson who died in their arms on an Eltaryn attack... And in their memory it is brutally clear.

AI I guess there was something why AI never appears visible only communicating via calls or voice.

Villains
The Eltaryn... What could this two species remember most likely the day they joined forces to fight a war against the whole galaxy. It would helped if anyone would know more about them but so far only wild speculations, rumors and simple Idiocracy from kultish leaders exist that claim them to be the pinnacle evolution or the future.

482. Have you ever written anything that falls within the genre of horror? If you haven’t, is it something you would be interested in doing someday?

Not deliberately nor with a focus on it. I seem to excell at accidentally horror in the brink of exploration.
Seemingly I am good in making people feel something is wrong. At least that what the players of my TTRPG rounds often tell me.

I have a faible for the Cthulhu Mythos, love Edgar Allan Poe, and next to Star Trek, Alien was one of my accidental first encounters with SciFi as I thought of I only realized later that it is Body horror.

As someone with a strong Goth influence I like good horror. I'm rarely interested in what is basically a stupid splatter movie (the only horror in that are the acting & the script) or stupid brutality like in Saw (injury porn) horror needs to be done intelligent. It doesn't even need a solution because sometimes the missing solution is pure fear. Good ->

2/2 examples of good horror in my opinion are rare as forks in a spoon factory, horror can be humorous or silly too as long it is relatable.

Terry Pratchett has some in Discworld universe references that could be red as horror in a humorous way.
Star Treks Borg are pure Body Horror, like the Cyberman in Dr. Who, the Dalek or weeping Angels, the silent... Honestly no one calls that a Horrorseries? The creepy gasmask child. "Are you my mommy?"

The game Fallout 3 made the best Horror move with a single spoken name. "GAAARY!"

The movie the Shutter is a great example for intelligent Horror thanks to it's fore shadowing.

And yesterday I just realized that Star Treks Teleporters are the craziest Horror invention ever, yes it kills yada yada yada but it can turn you into something completely different like a boneless, living, selfaware human rug...

So no I haven't written horror because I'm not a horror fan it's just something accidentally..
