Partnership with Apostrophy: Win a Privacy Phone

Like Threema, Apostrophy is a Swiss company that puts privacy first, doesn’t collect user data, and opposes to Big Tech’s ad-driven business model. Now, the two companies team up to facilitate secure and privacy-compliant mobile communication.

@threemaapp

I just looked up this "privacy phone". I'm mainly a feature phone fan. The less bloat the better. And a "smartphone" hasn't yet come to catch my eyes.

The OS is not an independent OS. Not even an independent Linux distro. It's another Android distro. And there are multiple open questions here. Like is the modem firmware source code freely available for this privacy phone? Does it use Linux mainline or just one of those 4.x sidelines? Is it possible to physically disconnect modem?

@farooqkz @threemaapp If the goal is minimalism and complete control, this phone, with its subscription fees, Android dependency, and questionable independence, doesn’t seem like a justified purchase. There are already reliable and free alternatives that offer a high level of privacy. To be honest, I currently see no reason to buy this device.
