1/ Agiorgitiko,a grape with many questions, gave me some answers with this duo:2013 Driopi (in Nemea, the grape's home base) and 2008 Areti from Biblia Chora in the North.Stern aging tests for a grape that sometimes doesn't project gravitas!I love the winery, but the Areti from 1998 vines is a surprise at age 16. Elegant and mature, complex but still lively and velvety, it shows classic red fruits, but those are muted now. But it's more interesting and adds finesse, plus pop on the finish. TO #2

PART 2:

I'm impressed, for a wine that was mid-$20s. No point holding it more, but it's not dying yet.

The much younger Driopi, old vines acquired by Tselepos Winery in 2003, seems riper and richer (both listed at 14%). It also adds more power. It too has held well, but at times the strawberry overlay seems aggressive and simple. (That's the grape sometimes.)

TO PART 3 (final and last!) I hate multi-parts, but sometimes you gotta do it.🍷 🇬🇷

Part 3: last part.

But it integrates that well with air and drank great. It's the better wine, but not by as much as I expected and the Areti overachieved. This can still age, but it is great now. Under $25 on release.
