Want to build a thriving tech company? Easy! Just ignore user complaints, double down on those privacy-violating features everyone hates, and exploit user data to the max. That's the winning formula, right? 🤡
Forget innovation, user experience, and ethical considerations. In today's tech world, the fastest route to the top is questionable practices. Who needs happy users when you have soaring stock prices? It's a proven business model!
@nixCraft and then, your public company can get bought, giving you one heck of a payday! don't worry about how your customers of years/decades will be screwed. that's just how the industry goes! they'll get over it.
@nixCraft
And then chapter 11 exit strat.
@nixCraft Bonus points if your product also heavily relies upon the work of volunteers from the FOSS community. ☺️

@nixCraft The tech market is mainly a scam along with stock market. Crypto scam behavior amplified the Big Data issues (like Uber & WeWork startups) and rolled into a large part of AI.

It is possible to win with ethics, but it is either a slower path or requires huge innovation to build one's own "moat"

@brutek @nixCraft Ethic wont make you win, big tech will simply screw you over faster, unfortunately.
@mikeTesteLinux @nixCraft
Define "win". If it is being bigger than big tech, then I agree with you. If it is making good money without them able to touch you, then I disagree.
@brutek @nixCraft Hum good question, didn't think about that implication. Etihc make you bigger than gafam, but at the end of the day, the will road kill you, starve you, because of their reserve of money... The only way to beat them, is having a lot of people with ethic. Hope that day will come.

Here is Big Tech's playbook: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/10/preemption-playbook-big-techs-blueprint-comes-straight-big-tobacco

At this point it requires both smart competition & gov regs. EU is not in Big Tech's pockets yet, so I hope they continue, but they fine too low. Big Tech paying many large fines gets gov addicted to their money, so they comply later. One HUGE fine is a deterrent to others & the gov cannot keep repeating, so no addiction

Preemption Playbook: Big Tech’s Blueprint Comes Straight from Big Tobacco

Big Tech is borrowing a page from Big Tobacco's playbook to wage war on your privacy, according to Jake Snow of the ACLU of Northern California. We agree. In the 1990s, the tobacco industry attempted to use federal law to override a broad swath of existing state laws and prevent states from future...

@brutek @nixCraft Totaly agree with you on that.
@brutek @mikeTesteLinux @nixCraft i think EU is banking on deregulation to destroy American society, and thereby destroy corrupt tech practices as a result
@nixCraft they eat copyright infringements for breakfast
@nixCraft It's like building a modern video game

@nixCraft Add "theft" to your list and I'd say you're spot on.

Billionaire list:
Gates: Stole DOS and the Gui
Jobs: Also stole the Gui
Zuckerberg: Stole Facebook
Altman: Stole the internet

I'm sure there's more...
