IMO (in contrast to👇) there are NOT two reasonable sides to the question of legalizing the RIGHT to #DeathWithDignity!!! Every adult deserves the right to choose the timing/means of their death!! Those who prefer lingering/suffering will always have that option.

The assisted dying debate is about so much more than kindness v conservatism

George Carey is wrong to reduce the bill to a simple question of right or wrong

@AmerLiberal Agreed. Here, in Oregon, the state has had a #DeathWithDignity Act on the books since October 27, 1997. I'm not sure how I feel about Governments mandating individual rights in general, but in this case, I'm satisfied to have the state somewhat protect an individual's right to their own physical autonomy. I question gov't setting ANY conditions, just to appease religion.

Oregon's Death with Dignity Act allows terminally-ill Oregonians to end their lives through the voluntary self-administration of lethal medications, expressly prescribed by a physician for that purpose.

@donhawkins - thank you

@AmerLiberal

"No, thank YOU" ;-) for bringing that article to attention.

I've opted to write a reply to the columnist, using [email protected], as a result.

I want to suggest to that columnist to watch what Vice Presidential candidate #TimWalz says about #politicians & #government in general having a say in #reproductiverights because I see a parallel to the #right to #DeathWithDignity. Tim sums it up nicely, I think. #PBS
