According to Oxfam, four #water engineers were killed in Gaza today, targeted by Israel. Reports say the men were killed "on their way to conduct repairs to water infrastructure in Khuzaa, east of Khan Younis. Despite prior coordination with Israeli authorities their clearly-marked vehicle was bombed."

@petergleick Clearly marked vehicles bringing aid that was coordinated with the Israeli government get bombed too often for it to be an accident.
@petergleick heartbreaking 💔 💦 is life
@petergleick What is wrong with human beings?
@Doreen32128 @petergleick I think some of it is just instinctual. A relic of evolution. Humans will very easily fall into the pattern of splitting the world into 'my tribe' and 'the enemy tribe.' My tribe are good people who must be defended, and the enemy are violent savages. It takes a constant active effort to resist this pattern of thinking because it has a very satisfying emotional appeal. Everyone wants to be a soldier of good, and you can't be good unless you have an evil to fight.

@petergleick
War criminals be war criminals.

Religion absolves you of all sin.

@petergleick the surprising thing about this is that it isn't a shock. Day after day the excesses are piling up so high that even those most terrified of being labelled anti-Semitic are being forced to call out this behaviour.
"You don't make peace with your friends" seems so long ago and so far away right now.
@petergleick And Israel gets away with this murder. As with all their other atrocities. If condemning that makes me an antisemite, then I'll take that.

@petergleick from a humanitarian perspective, i believe this is worse than bombing/shooting an ambulance.

Then again, the country is working real hard to bring back hospitals bombings, so there’s that- at least, they are consistent.

@petergleick the world have never understood how Nazis won the war.
