At first I completely missed this on-sidewalk #bikeNYC lane around the old Swingline stapler factory. It was only when I got to the light (next to the MTA truck) that I looked over, saw it and hopped onto the sidewalk.
The Jersey barrier protected segment between Van Dam and Skillman makes a bit more sense - but it'll make even more sense when #congestionPricing starts and vehicles flow better!
I hope someday we'll restore the median sidewalks (with trees!) throughout Sunnyside, and I wish the DOT had included 47th Street, but I'm glad to see more space - and Jersey barriers - to protect people crossing Queens Boulevard at 46th Street!
This is the south (eastbound) side; there is a similar arrangement on the north side. I'll check soon, but I think they're doing this at the 33rd/Rawson and 40th/Lowery stations too!
