Aknorals⚑Ⓐ 🏴Intellectual Property isn't an offshoot or side effect of capitalism, it is at this point a cornerstone. Between 33% and 41% of the US economy is in heavily IP intensive industries (according to the patent office). There is no killing capitalism without killing IP.
One of the amazing things I learned when I read Dawn of Everything was that something like Intellectual Property does not require "capitalism" to exist. It can exist even amongst people without money of markets; in hunter gathers that don't have been personal propriety over objects.
