So if I use an update manager, basically I’m using a fork of WordPress since I’m changing the behavior?
Oh, and how about caching. That changes the behavior by only serving static pages instead from WordPress directly. Am I using a fork of WordPress?
I’m using a revision plugin to limit the amount of revisions WordPress saves, is that makes my install of WordPress a fork?
Matt seriously doesn't know what a fork is. A plugin does not make WordPress a fork. No code is being modified and distributed.
Here is the definition of a fork from Wikipedia:
In software engineering, a project fork happens when developers take a copy of source code from one software package and start independent development on it, creating a distinct and separate piece of software.[
Using plugins is not a fork, and I doubt WP Engine modifies the Core WordPress code as they install it from the source, and use plugins to change the behavior. Matt is basically doing the thing he is being sued for, for false accusations, libel and slander. Basically, he is digging himself a deeper hole, while he continues to destroy the WordPress community.
