Noting the use of the word 'evacuees' for people fleeing Florida. Perhaps we could use the same word for folks fleeing climate induced extreme weather and its societal consequences on other continents.
@amberfirefly
Probably nuts to build houses in swamps and flood planes.....in the first place.
Like building houses in Friesland....when the tide is out....
@amberfirefly Or put the boot on the other foot, and call those fleeing the hurricane 'migrants' or 'refugees' the same as we do those other poor souls fleeing for their lives.
@bytebro
Suddenly, MTG is trying to build a wall on Georgia's southern border...
@amberfirefly
@amberfirefly has anyone checked their eating habits and if pets are on that menu? I’m asking because a certain demented person should belong to those migrating.
@amberfirefly climate migrants. Economic refugees. Those fleeing a shithole state.

@amberfirefly

I wonder how long before "IDP" becomes a standard part of American vocabulary?

@amberfirefly Include in this list the people who are fleeing the societal consequences of the CIA meddling in the politics and government of their country for decades.
@amberfirefly Are you talking about the Florida refugees seeking asylum in other states? Asylum seekers?

@amberfirefly Clearly they are refugees. Internally displaced refugees, but still refugees. And yes they are migrating, so they are MIGRANTS.

As I joked here in Austria, after the “yet another once-a-century-level flood” (although it was more of a once-a-millennium event), take all these refugees, give them the €500 go-home money, and send them back to their flooded homes. Still way more comfortable and safe than what our authorities declare “safe countries”.

@amberfirefly No, only white people get to be evacuees. The rest are economic migrants coming to steal our jobs. I learned that from the Daily Mail.

(Yes, this is sarcasm.)
