Is there any #Linux #Distro that specifically caters to older #i686 computers/laptops as a first class citizen?

@krutonium I can’t really think of any besides the weird ones that nobody maintains. You might be better off with maybe the BSD stuff but I can’t say for sure.

There is still 32 bit arch but I actually have no idea how stable that is.

@krutonium Debian with LXQt desktop environment instead of the default GNOME worked well for my Compaq laptop that once ran Windows XP. GNOME basically had constant 80% CPU; LXQt less than 10%. Works well as a SSH terminal to other more powerful machines after I got a #thinkpenguijn USB 2.0 WiFi accessory. Works okay as a text editor for journaling.
@krutonium Try XFCE or LXQT versions of Ubuntu. Search for Lubuntu or Xububtu. I have these running in very low resourced VMs where I need desktop environments just for browsing and normal office/admin tasks.
@krutonium Several, including Debian. Google "32-bit Linux distro" and take your pick.
@krutonium There is Debian but it doesn't work on all my old hardware, a Pentium Pro only worked well with OpenBSD 7.5, an AMD k6 only worked with FreeBSD 8.2. A Pentium 100 gives problems with all operating systems I tested. On "modern" hardware like Atom, Celeron-M all systems work.
