Kay Ohtie@MMRnmd I feel like I may be woefully ignorant, but do the stars on the shoulder have a specific reference, or is it emblematic of how the US keeps using them in symbolism? Damn that's a powerful piece.

I must say I have no clue but makes sens since we also have the red of the shirt, the tiny bit of blue at the end of the shirt's sleeve and the white of the covering paint.
It might pretty well be on purpose.
@MMRnmd I wasn't sure if there was symbolism in the number of them (I can tell they're stars but they quickly blur too much to count them in the photo resolution) or not too
@KayOhtie Theshape of the stars reminds more of the EU flag, but the more I think about it the more I think you're right.
If he had copied the US flag design of the stars, it would have been like pre-chewing the symbol for the viewer.
As they are, they just slightly remind us of the US flag, up to you (or me) to interpret it our way according to our upbringing, culture or opinion : it means art.
