Not really #retro, but that rugged tablet PC from 2010 running Windows 7 will certainly be fun to play around with. 🙂 Might even be good for some sort of emulation.

Looks much nicer after some cleaning. 🙂
So I have this rugged, military-grade tablet PC that can withstand being dropped from 1.20 meters onto concrete at least 26 times without breaking (MIL-STD-810G). And guess what IS broken? The f*cking mounting hole for the strap that holds the touchpen. Seriously? 😅
Repaired. Melted a small metal bar into the plastics and secured it additionally with some epoxy. Does not look pretty in the close-up, but that section is tiny (and on the underside anyway).
I guess that thing is not old enough for people to actually care, but anyway... here's how the inside looks thru the service door on the back.
They really put in whatever they could squeeze into the mini PCI-E slots. It has GSM, WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS, and even RFID (UHF) reading and writing capabilities.
Due to all of this, I'm thinking about using it to catalog my collection. If I could get cheap RFID chips, it would even allow me not only to scan e.g. a box it items, but also to locate an item.
