9/24/2024 IceHouse Punk & DIY SHOW RECAP:

Our "two-band Tuesday" evening this week was a joy with 40+ folks present, seated, and enthralled during the amazing performances of william h. travis and Advance Base given on the floor of our upstairs stage at the historic Ice House.

First, william h. travis accompanied by Alex Luquet on standup bass got us started with remarkable songs and beautiful musical interplay, sprinkled with a touch of joy and nostalgia - very fortunate to have these performers in our backyard.

Next, we welcomed Owen Ashworth, aka Advance Base, to Bethlehem, who kicked off their current tour with us, courtesy of First Date Touring.

The music of Advance Base locked in with warm melodies twinkling from a plethora of keyboards, effect pedals, and other little boxes that make shimmering sounds to match the surreal visual songwriting stories of things like curses, retail theft, and justifiable homicide. With an upcoming album entitled 'Horrible Occurrences', Owen remarked how everyone holds their breath during the end of a new song about a dad breaking a $20 bill at a liquor store for $1 for their daughter's tooth fairy money.

Won't spoil the ending (still catching our breath), but to find out yourself, grab Advance Base's upcoming album out in December and available for pre-order now. Or catch one of the next tour stops - some with Cass McCombs (Cass McCombs and the Painfully Alone?)
