@DG0YT do you have any pointers for beginners ARDF? Anything that’d help bootstrap it in an area with no league support, so we could put on an event for kids to see if there’s any demand for doing it again?

Competitive ARDF demands thorough preparation, long rule books, training, and experience. Which is fine if you’re close enough to borrow all that, but we’re at the other end, needing simplified rules and instructions for something fun on the cheap. What’s the starting point?

@vk2tty @DG0YT I'd be very interested in this also.

For (groups of) beginners, #foxoring is usually a good start:

Simple, weak transmitters with a permanent signal audible in 50 to 200 m distance.

Participants must use the map to reach that radius. But you can choose a familiar map. Additional guiding is another option.

In any case, a good RX is significant for a positive experience. Not too complicated, but sensitive, robust and with clear Forward/Back info (tuned to children's size when this is the target group).
